A poetic evening that blurs the boundaries: Circus & Poetry combines classical literature with modern circus art to create an experience brimming with poetry, movement and emotion. Poems by Rainer Maria Rilke, a moving adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and impressive acrobatics by Selina and Chris merge into a sensuous overall composition. Between words and physical art, a space emerges in which language soars and acrobatics tells a story. Sigrid Grün, Julian Bellini and Michael Heiduk lend voice and soul to the texts, whilst Selina and Chris transform the stage into a poetic circus with excerpts from their latest creation.

Who's performing

  • Christoph Hermann

    Christoph Hermann

The Cyr Wheel weighs 18 kg and is made of solid steel – and, in my view, it’s the most elegant fusion of gymnastics, dance and acrobatics. I love the freedom this apparatus offers and the thrill of constantly pushing my limits.

  • Julian Bellini

    Julian Bellini

Julian Bellini is a circus artist and performer who combines acrobatics, movement and construction to create poetic, abstract images. Using simple materials such as wooden poles and ropes, he creates ephemeral works that are constantly being reborn, straddling the boundary between sculpture and performance.

  • Michael Heiduk

    Michael Heiduk

Michael Heiduk studied acting and specialised in clowning. He is the founder of the PEPE Collective. His other strengths include juggling, handstands and the Cyr wheel.

  • Sigrid Grün

Sigrid Grün is a freelance artist and author with training in drama and a background in German studies, philosophy and comparative cultural studies. Her artistic work combines stage presence with a keen sense of language, poetry and subtle nuances.

  • Jana Rippel

    Jana Rippel

Jana Rippel works as an aerial acrobat and trainer in Munich and is a member of the Isarseide Aerial Collective. On the vertical silks and aerial hoop, she combines strength, precision and grace to create expressive performances – both on stage and in unusual locations around Munich.

Open Stage

At our Open Stage, the stage belongs to various artists and their current work. The programme features fully-fledged acts, new routines, excerpts from works in progress and experiments that may be performed in front of an audience for the very first time. That is precisely what makes the evening so special: you never quite know in advance what’s going to happen. Different disciplines, styles and personalities come together – spontaneously, surprisingly and with no great distance between the stage and the audience. The Open Stage is a meeting place for the circus community and for anyone curious about contemporary circus. Not a run-of-the-mill evening, but a snapshot of what’s currently inspiring the performers and what they’re working on. Come along, discover new talent and experience an evening that won’t be repeated.
